12 Ways to Create a Brighter Future of Work, Today

A practice that has really enlivened my work is to attempt to tap into what is happening for my community (if you’re reading this, that’s you) on a collective level. Too often, our personal development strategies are created in isolation when actually, many of us are experiencing and working toward similar visions of a brighter future.

So when I sat down to compose this missive, I wondered, “what are we all experiencing right now?” And, “What are we collectively working toward?”

Now Is a Time to Just Keep Going

The first Equinox of the year is just a week away, and soon we will be in Spring’s effervescent, bubbly midst. Colors will delight our eyes, the air will warm around us, and we’ll be witness to the Earth’s fertility.

But we’re not there yet. And actually, even after the Equinox, it will still be weeks (or months depending on where you live) until Spring is in her full glory.

What’s different about this period of waiting is that we’re receiving signs that Spring will be here.

Tiny Springtime Steps Toward Alignment

In earth-based spirituality and astrology, eclipses are considered portals. Things are one way, and then they’re not. You are in one world, and then you awaken to find yourself in another. They’re excellent times to shed patterns that keep us stuck in meaningless patterns of suffering.

I went into this eclipse knowing that I wanted to work with it intentionally, and when I awoke at 5:00am that morning, I walked outside under the moon and begged to be free of the self-hatred that had so bitterly worn me down.

Thoughts on How to Clumsily Crawl Toward Change

Sometimes before I write a blog post, I get out my Tarot deck and ask, “What message wants to come through me today?” I pull a card and see what’s there, and it’s usually a card related to something I’ve been mulling over and want to write to you about.

Dreams of Cracking Open: New Year, New Truth

I want to tell you about a dream I had last night.

I’m at a women’s weekend gathering, and we’re each supposed to make a dish for a potluck. I decide I’m going to steam some crabs for the group, and I go out and buy four of them, which I carry in a small plastic bag.

I sit down on a bench near the ocean. Next to me, on my right, is an older man, and I ask him, “Do you know how to steam crabs?” He’s annoyed, but he helps me crack open the shells of two of the crabs and asks me which parts I want to use. As I crack them open, there’s a lot of meat, but also other things - a dark red organ of some kind, and a silver metal orb. I feel sick as we’re doing this, but I put the meat aside in a bowl and turn to the other two crabs in the bag.
