I'll be one of the keynote speakers at Portland State University's HR Management Association's 3rd Annual "Micro-Conference Mixer"!
This fun and focused gathering is an opportunity for Portland-area people professionals to mingle with their peers and learn supportive techniques for their worklives. I'll be presenting alongside Chris Sheesley, whose keynote will be on the topic of workplace conflict.
My session is titled "Thriving in Your Organization's Ecosystem," and the description is below:
Many of us were taught to view our worklives and our organizations with a mechanical perspective. We talk about levers, efficiency and automation, all while pursuing a linear, upward trajectory of progress. But what if there’s more to the story? What if change happens in a spiral way? What if the key to thriving in today’s workforce is actually about a return to a more natural way of being? In this interactive (like, really) workshop, we’ll explore the world of career growth and organizational climates through an ecological lens. As a participant, you’ll leave feeling rooted, connected to a vast network, and ready for the abundance of the seasons ahead.
- Participants will walk away with an understanding of organizational and personal growth processes using an ecological perspective;
- Participants will examine their strengths and ways to use them in order to contribute meaningfully to fixing their organization’s top three challenges;
- Participants will explore ways to demonstrate more robust, strengths-based leadership within their organizations.
